Get Real Cozy, it's Fall

If you’re looking for ways to make your home festive for fall, chances are you’re scrolling through Pinterest, looking at all the styled/staged homes and setting unrealistic goals for your own home décor.  But you don’t have to give up on your fall home dreams. Here are a few “Pinterest vs. Reality” options to make your home real cozy this fall.

Blanket Your Home

Pinterest: Overlapping throw blankets on your perfect white couch, new throw pillows and a basket full of yarn, for when you feel like knitting yourself yet another beautiful throw blanket

Reality: Try instead draping a blanket over a chair or a plaid throw over a bed. A blanket basket is a cozy touch to your living room too, especially if you’re out of yarn.

Candles, Candles Everywhere!

Pinterest: Okay, this is just a fire hazard, and there’s no space to put anything else on the coffee table. Not practical or functional.

Reality: Use a tray you already have, or buy one from Home Goods or Target, and mix and match different textures, fall colors and sizes to make the room feel festive. With the tray, it’s easy to move to another table or to the side when you aren’t using them.

Front Porch Feels

Pinterest: Okay, this one is hard, because who doesn’t want a patio or front porch overflowing with pumpkins and gourds, and mums of every color. This trend isn’t that crazy, other than the fact that the weather during the fall can be unpredictable, and you MIGHT want to use your front porch for more than just displaying your multitude of pumpkins.

Reality: My best advice on this one is to keep it simple. You can add a couple of pumpkins, a flower pot or two, maybe even a new wreath and really change the aesthetic of your front door. Plus, minimalism never goes out of style.

Here’s to hoping all your fall home décor dreams come true!
